Exhibition strap workshop – Your own exhibition strap woven using the Kumihimo technique
Come and spend a peaceful evening with other dog lovers doing crafts! BarkPoint's first show leash workshop will be held at the Helsinki Greyhound Club on May 8th from 6-9pm (you can also come at a time that suits you). During the evening we will make our own show leashes using the traditional Japanese Kumihimo technique !
At the workshop, you can weave a unique show leash that is just right for your dog with the help of instructors. The show leash is made taking into account your dog's breed, size, and your own wishes regarding the type and color of the leash.
You can choose everything: colors, beads and neck part/attachment! (separate metal collars such as snakes are not included in the price) It is possible to make a tightenable "greyhound" style leash, a retriever leash, a leash to be used with your own collar or a leash with a clip lock. The thickness and the required durability of the leash are considered according to the need. The leash can be made from either durable satin cord or even stronger paracord cord.
Kumihimo is an old Japanese braiding technique where several strings are braided together and beads of your choice are placed in between. The Kumihimo technique is simple and you don't need any previous experience – just enthusiasm and a desire to create something of your own. At the end of the course, you will have a strap to use for the summer exhibitions!
The course price includes everything you need to make the strap, as well as a little something to drink and eat!
The community event will be held at the Tuomarinkartano Greyhound Club.
